Part of this summer was mostly spent teaching a group of children ages eight – thirteen years old conversational Spanish. We met three times a week for three months practicing how to speak Spanish while doing fun activities. The children cooked Mexican food, learned about their ancestry, played games and took field trips to the local park. Just like that it came and went, summer was over. So when one of the mom’s approached me with the idea of having an end of the summer party, I was all over it! Our thought, a Garden Party! We created a whimsical atmosphere filled with flying butterflies, teacups, fairy houses, treasure hunts, and storytelling. Here’s a sneak peek at our fun Garden Party! The children had such a wonderful time, I can’t wait to do another one this coming summer!
Tea time! Little girls don’t always drink tea, especially outside on such a warm Southern California afternoon, so we improvised with pink lemonade to make use of the cute little tea cups.
Ladybugs, ladybugs everywhere! Why not take the opportunity to learn about Ladybugs while having fun! Read to children about the importance ladybugs have in our gardens! Have a treasure hunt and go exploring for those creepy crawlies in the bushes. OSH Hardware Store sells over one hundred live ladybugs in a small containers! Set them in the bushes right before the hunt, give each child a Mason Jar and replace the lid with a small piece of fabric and small holes. The kids will go crazy trying to find the Ladybugs! Let them explore their spots and then set them free!
